BREATH

Have you ever thought about how just one breath is so much like the cycle of one’s entire life? No? Well, I have, and I’ve even written a short poem about it.

I’m sure that BREATH was written after seeing my mom pass away. An experience like that can really make one think about the whole process of life and death, and when to hold on to someone that you love, and when it’s time to let them go.

BREATH
Expand your lungs
by breathing in
deeply
the essence
of your surroundings.
Hold it intimately
as long as you can,
then release.

This is the process
of life itself.
One grows
from embracing,
cherishing.
Finally succumbing,
giving up,
and letting go.
